WHY BUY FROM BOOKS FOR LESS?

Books for Less takes the hassle out of second hand book buying. You can still browse like your favourite store, and purchase without hopping off the couch, without the hassle of constant messages and emails back and forth to confirm a sale.  It also means we can keep our prices low, as we don’t have to pay for “success fees”.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GRADE, B GRADE AND C GRADE?

Our books are listed with either an A, B, or C grade. This is so you can easily determine the condition & quality of a book and feel confident in what you are buying. The differences between grades are noted below, with additional details on each book listing where appropriate.  Each book is listed with it’s true photo too, so you can check the quality there too.  We endeavour to be extra cautious and transparent in this process, as we know difficulties of buying something second hand online. For this reason, you will often find you receive a book in better condition than expected! 

A - Near New: A copy that has been read, but remains in excellent condition. Pages are intact and are not marred by notes or highlighting but may contain a neat previous owner name. The spine remains undamaged, but books have been opened and read
B - Good: A copy that has been read but remains in clean condition. All pages are intact, and the cover is intact. The spine may show signs of wear. The copy can include "From the library of" labels or previous owner inscriptions.
C -  Well Read: A readable copy. All pages are intact, and the cover is intact (the dust cover may be missing). Pages can include considerable notes--in pen or highlighter--but the notes cannot obscure the text.

 

Sometimes we will have multiple listings of the same book, but each will be different in some way.  Some might have a different cover, be a different size (e.g. trade paperback vs mass market paperback), or they might be in a different condition.  This gives you the option to pick the one best suited for you! Prefer your books to stay neat and tidy? Buy an A grade copy. Just wanting to find your next book to take to the beach? Choose C grade.  The choice is yours. 

I'M LOOKING FOR X BOOK, DO YOU HAVE IT?

We update our stock weekly and do a 'Book Drop' of our new stock every Tuesday at 7pm. If you are looking for something in particular and can't see it on the site, feel free to email us at info@booksforless.co.nz and we will see if we have it among our books waiting to be uploaded.  

ARE THE PHOTOS OF THE BOOKS THE REAL PRODUCT?

Of course.  All our books are listed with a photo of the real product you would receive.  You can know it’s a real product photo if it has a small logo Harry Potter figure in the picture.  Occasionally we will use stock photos on our social media, but never on a book listing. 

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU HAVE?

We can accept payment by debit/credit card or internet banking. At this stage we do not offer gift cards, but please let us know if this is something you would like to see available.

HOW MUCH DOES SHIPPING COST?

We offer two options for shipping to keep it as simple and cost effective for you as possible:

$7     Multiple Books (Up to 5 books)

$12   Flat Rate (As Many Books as you Want)          


Please ensure to choose rural delivery if you have a rural address. If you're not sure check it here. If you forget to choose rural delivery & your address is rural we will flick you a quick email to pay the rural delivery before your items are shipped.  This may delay your order.

HOW LONG DOES DELIVERY TAKE?

Your order will be processed and packed for shipping within 48 hours and sent via tracked courier.  Most orders make it to you in 2 days but rural and South Island deliveries can take up to 4 days.

DO YOU USE SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING?

Yes!  All of our orders are shipped in either cardboard packaging or home compostable shipping bags with paper "honeycomb" protection (a lot like bubble wrap but without that wasteful plastic!)  As we do not use plastic, please ensure you have somewhere weatherproof for your package to be left.  For information on how to compost these products, please visit the r3 pack website

HOW DO RETURNS WORK?

If you have any issues with your order, please contact us in the first instance at sales@booksforless.co.nz and we will work with you to solve any problems.  We do not offer change of mind returns, as we endeavour to be as transparent as possible in the book listing so you know exactly what you are getting.
